This week we’re giving a sugary shout-out to No Bake Makery. The DIY approach to baking (as-in, Do-It-Yourself…without an oven!) illustrated in her new book caught our eye, and our sweet tooth…so we decided to take one of the recipes for a spin. Tie on a vintage apron and channel your inner June Cleaver to whip up this modern take on a classic warm weather treat!

To create: Pour a pack of gelatin into a small bowl filled with 3 tbps of water; let mixture sit for 2 minutes. Combine 3/4 cup each of raspberries, blueberries, and sugar in a saucepan. Cook ingredients over medium-low heat. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, stir in the gelatin mixture and let dissolve, before removing from heat. Cool to room temperature. Next, use an electric mixer to mix 2 cups of heavy cream in a large bowl. Mix until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the berry mixture in with the cream. Cover the bottom of an 8-inch square pan with aluminum foil and nonstick spray, then line with wafer cookies. Pour the mousse mixture into the pan evenly, then vertically insert the remaining cookies. Cover with saran wrap and freeze overnight. Peel away the plastic wrap then slice and serve!

If we’ve got one tip to offer up for your Fall accessory collection…make sure it ROCKS. Chanel had an all-out crystal ball with its Fall 2012 collection, as Karl Lagerfeld decked heels, cuffs, hems and even eyebrows with brilliant moonstones & rocky gems.  Fuse abstract amethyst, moody-hued quartz and shimmering fluorite to create a bold yet (literally) precious D.I.Y. hair accessory for a look that packs the power of Kryptonite both day and night.

To create:  Cut a rectangular piece of leather (or leather-like) fabric to the approximate size of your barrette. Glue the backside of the fabric piece to your barrette with extra-strength glue - we used E6000. To avoid excess glue and drips, use a craft stick. Finish by embellishing with an array of quartz and crystals. Let dry completely, then style for an instant eye-catcher.

Follow your DIY dreams and add an eclectic inspiring touch to any room. Originating from Native American culture, dreamcatchers are said to filter out bad dreams and allow the good ones to float through. A geometric weave, bright feathers and the elegant touch of colorful stone accouterments combine to create a covetable object that’s trendy yet timeless.
To create:  Web the elastic cord around the embroidery hoop - get inspired by structured spider webs or intertwine your own unique organic shape. Secure the web and wrap the frame of the embroidery hoop with suede cord. Embellish the web with gemstones or beads. Finish off by tying scrap suede cord in a variety of lengths to the bottom of the hoop and dangle an assortment of feathers.
